Delete your account without writing to us

Leaving should be as simple as joining. Your account, and every document that is only yours, can now be deleted from the profile in one step, with no request and no waiting.

Signing up for DocuTract takes a minute. Until today, leaving took an email to us and a wait for someone to do it by hand. The right to have your data deleted is not a courtesy we extend when asked; it is yours, and it should work without us in the loop.

Now it does.

Where it is

Open Profile and scroll to Delete account. The button opens a confirmation that asks you to type the email address of your account. That is not a security check, you are already signed in; it is there so that an irreversible action cannot happen by accident.

What is deleted

  • Your account: your profile, your sign-in, your consents.
  • Every workspace where you are the only member, with everything in it: templates, scans, the values read from them, generated documents and the files behind all of these.
  • A subscription of such a workspace is cancelled at once, so you are not charged again.

The files are deleted from our storage immediately. Copies held by the services we rely on, such as the provider that recognises your scans, are removed within their own retention periods, at most thirty days.

What stays, and why

  • Documents you created in other people's workspaces stay with those teams. They belong to the team's work, not to your account, so they are handed over to the workspace owner rather than deleted from under colleagues.
  • Invoices are kept, because accounting law requires it. They carry no document content.

If you own a team workspace

If other people work in a workspace you own, the account cannot be deleted yet: deleting it would either destroy the team's documents or leave them without an owner. DocuTract tells you which workspaces are in the way. Hand ownership to a colleague in Workspace settings, then come back and delete your account.

Before you go

If you might need any of the documents, download them first; after deletion there is nothing to restore. And if something made you want to leave, we would genuinely like to hear what it was.

The details are also in our Privacy Policy.

A template from the document you already have

You do not need to mark up a contract by hand to turn it into a template. Upload a finished document, and DocuTract proposes which parts change from client to client.

A password is no longer enough

Two-factor sign-in is live. Add an authenticator app to your account, and a stolen password stops being a way into your documents. Workspace owners can require it of the whole team.
